How to Use the Purpl PRO App

The Purpl PRO App turns your smartphone into a fast, reliable cannabis potency testing tool. Pair it with your Purpl PRO device to measure THC, CBD, moisture, and water activity in seconds.

Download the app

Use your phone camera to scan the QR code or download the Purpl PRO App from App Store or Play Store.

1. Register

Click “Register” and enter a working email address and a password. Go to your email, find your verification email, and click to verify.

2. Connect Device + Product Selection

Tap the button “Connect device via Bluetooth.” If no device is displayed, please ensure the unit is switched on and press “Refresh”. Select the detected device.

Go to the “Products” tab. Select the product you want to use for measurements. Now the “Calibrate” button is displayed in the upper part.

3. Calibrate

Remove the calibration puck cover and place the white material on top of the sensor.

In the Purpl PRO mobile app, click “Calibrate.” In a few seconds, the device will calibrate, and you’re ready to go!

To prepare your sample, begin by placing the black sample holder securely over the Purpl PRO device. Once the flower is ground, attach the funnel to the top of the grinder and carefully pour the flakes into the sample holder. Use the tamper to press the flakes down firmly to ensure a tight, even pack. Finally, open the Purpl PRO App on your device and select “Measure,” followed by “Measure Now,” to begin the analysis.

5. Getting the Results

Feel free to share your sample results on lnstagram and tag @purplscientific! Enter a name and a note for the sample, if you’d like.

What do moisture and water activity results mean in the Purpl PRO App?

Moisture refers to the water content inside the plant. For flower intended for consumption, a moisture range of 8–12% is generally recommended. Water activity reflects surface-level moisture and storage stability. Readings at or above 0.6 may signal a higher risk of spoilage and are a good reason to reevaluate storage conditions.
